The city of Bellingham Arts Commission announced it is accepting qualifications from artists for a public sculpture opportunity at Big Rock Garden Park.
The 11-acre park, located at 2900 Sylvan St. in Bellingham, includes 2.7 acres developed as a public sculpture garden and nearly 8.3 acres of undeveloped forest overlooking Lake Whatcom. It has more than 35 permanent sculptures on display.
The commission is inviting artists from Washington, Oregon, Idaho or Vancouver, B.C., to submit qualifications. The project is funded through a private donation, and it has a total budget of $10,000, which includes sculpture fabrication, installation, travel, taxes and other project costs.
The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. on Sept. 21.
