Debbie Figueroa, lead licensed veterinary technician at the Fairhaven Veterinary Hospital, has achieved national board certification from the Academy of Veterinary Technicians in Clinical Practice.
The canine/feline specialty program involved two years of in-depth case study and reviews by Fairhaven Veterinary Hospital doctors, as well as attendance of national continuing education seminars.
The certification program culminated in a comprehensive board exam in San Antonio, Texas, this spring, which included candidates from across the country.
Her certification in canine/felineclinical practice is the first for any licensed veterinary technician in Whatcom County.
Debbie completed an associate degree in veterinary technology in 1997 at Pierce College in Tacoma.
The Fairhaven Veterinary Hospital, located at 2330 Old Fairhaven Parkway in Bellingham, was established in 1979 and is currently owned by founder Dr. Daniel Hall and Dr. Mark Kummer.
