Bakerview Square has announced that Charter College will be a new anchor tenant in the latest phase of the commercial development. The Charter College campus will be the largest tenant in Bakerview Square with 23,000 square feet.

“I am pleased to welcome Charter as an anchor tenant to Bakerview Square,” said Morgan Bartlett, developer of Bakerview Square. “Charter’s 500 students and faculty will enjoy the retail, restaurant and services of the square, and our existing and future tenants will benefit greatly from the increased traffic. It’s a true win-win.”

The college was going to occupy the Good Guys building off Meridian Street across from Bellis Fair mall, and this new location will keep them in north Bellingham. The college has also opened up temporary admissions offices in Bellis Fair in anticipation of the college’s opening.

Charter College offers career-focused education in the fields of business, health care, criminal justice and information technology. They offer both degree and/or diploma programs. This enables students to start sooner and finish faster by providing hands-on training. This approach reinforces classroom and laboratory learning, with smaller class sizes where students have more interaction with the instructors.

Charter College has campuses in Alaska, California and the Tri-Cities area of eastern Washington, along with online courses. Programs vary by campus location. The new Bellingham campus will open January 2010 via temporary classrooms in Bakerview Square, with completion of the permanent space scheduled for February 2010.
