Chocolate Necessities & Gelato opening its own store

Chocolate Necessities & Gelato will be branching out on its own next month when it moves from inside the Public Market at 1530 Cornwall Ave. to its own space at 1426 Cornwall Ave., next to Anker Cafe.
Owner Kevin Buck said the new location, which is nearly 1,000 square feet, will give the business more visibility and will allow it to stay open later.
“We were hidden in the Public Market and we want to establish our own identity and become more visible,” Buck said. “We want to create our own atmosphere.”
The store will still offer chocolaty gifts and gelato, but Buck plans to add a dessert menu that includes treats such as choose-your-own-topping cheesecake.
“We want to be the dessert hangout of Bellingham,” he said, adding that he plans to be open until 11 p.m.
