Don Elliott elected 2010 WCAR president

Don Elliott of John L. Scott Real Estate has been elected president of the Whatcom County Association of Realtors and will be installed at its annual banquet Jan. 8.

Elliott was honored as WCAR’s Rookie of the Year in 2005. He has been serving this year as its vice president and as a director on the Washington Association of Realtors board.

“Our goal is to build better communities by supporting quality growth that seeks sustainable economies and housing opportunities that embrace cherished environmental qualities, while protecting property owners’ ability to own, use and transfer their property,” Elliott said.

Other WCAR officers for 2010 are: Ray Pelletti, Abby’s Land and Homes, president-elect; Michele Boudreau, RE/MAX Whatcom County, secretary; Janet Armstrong, Peoples Bank, treasurer; Trudy Starkovich, John L. Scott Real Estate, treasurer-elect; and J.D. Merris, Keller Williams Realty, past-president.

The local directors for 2010 are Damian Pro and Rebecca Taylor of Windermere Real Estate, Jim Sands and Darin Stenvers of RE/MAX Whatcom County, Rozy Olson Stevens of Coldwell Banker Miller-Arnason, Boudreau, Armstrong, Starkovich and Merris.

The WCAR’s state directors for 2010 are Ben Kinney of Keller Williams Realty, Mark Brown and Jon Soine of Windermere Real Estate and Pelletti, Elliott and Cheryl Ferrier of John L. Scott Real Estate.

Officers and directors will be installed during WCAR’s annual awards banquet from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8 at the Bellingham Golf & Country Club. The cost is $35 per person. For tickets, call WCAR at (360) 671-5477.

WCAR, founded in 1908, has a membership of approximately 745 Realtors, 50 brokers and 40 affiliates. WCAR provides continuing-education classes for members and information for prospective buyers and sellers of real estate.
