A Whatcom County company is one of 12 Washington state firms participating in a new program that promotes workplace safety and health.
Management Services Northwest, a Ferndale-based facility services company, is taking part in the Blueprint for Safety pilot program, run by the state Department of Labor and Industries. Participating companies receive training in job hazard analysis, accident investigation, employees returning to work after taking leave, human resources, ergonomics and safety leadership.
“Our team’s safety and health has always been our priority, and we strive to take advantage of every opportunity to expand our knowledge, improve our practices and promote a safe and productive workplace,” said Janelle Bruland, the company’s president and CEO, in a press release. ”The Blueprint for Safety is a positive, collaborative effort that benefits both employees and employers.”
State officials will monitor long-term performance in the program. The goal is to lower the rates of employee accident claims and costs.
