The Henry Klein Partnership (HKP) architects received a Merit Award for the Guemes Island summerhouse. This represents their 13th design award from the Northwest Washington AIA Chapter in the last 10 years.

The Guemes Island Cabin is designed in the tradition of Finnish and Scandinavian summerhouses. It is designed to be a second home where owners can enjoy a more unencumbered lifestyle close to nature. The cabin’s floor plan features a central open space for living, dining and cooking, with a study and vanity bath at the south end and a bedroom and bathroom at the north end.

The award was presented at the Northwest Washington Chapter of the American Institute of Architects’ annual Design Awards at McIntyre Hall in Mount Vernon, Wash. on Dec. 7. Architects within the chapter’s four counties submitted projects under consideration for review. The design team for the HKP architects included David Hall, AIA, Design Partner and Adair Orr.
