Haggen Food & Pharmacy stores are collecting donations to help fund World Vision’s relief efforts in Haiti, which was devastated by an earthquake on Jan. 12.
“World Vision is trusted by Washington residents,” said Becky Skaggs, spokesperson for Haggen Food & Pharmacy stores. “World Vision was supporting seven healthcare clinics and operating 19 development programs for the people of Haiti before the earthquake struck, so we’re confident that donations will be utilized efficiently and compassionately.”
World Vision, based in Federal Way, Wash., is using cash donations to send supplies to Haiti, where they have worked since 1959 and maintained an office in the capital of Port-au-Prince since 1978.
Customers can make donations of any amount at Haggen check stands through Feb. 9.
Participating Haggen stores include the following locations: 2814 Meridian St., Bellingham, 1401 12th St., Bellingham (Fairhaven), 210 36th St., Bellingham (Sehome Village), 2900 Woburn St., Bellingham (Barkley Village), and 1815 Main St. in Ferndale.
