Hand Therapy Inc., a physical rehabilitation business focused on hands and upper extremities, is moving into the Bank of the Pacific building in Bellingham at 220 W. Champion St., Suite 280 from its location since 2002 at 1611 Broadway St.

Owner Mike Poulos, an occupation therapist and certified hand therapist, said the slow economy presents a good time for business owners to purchase office space.

“For me, this is a wonderful time to buy,” Poulos said.

Poulos said he has purchased a 1,000-square-foot office, which is a big step up from sharing 1,900 square feet with two physical therapists. He said the space will allow him to have more therapy equipment on hand and allow for a bigger work/conditioning area for his clients.

“It’s just more space for me to spread my wings,” he said.

Poulos works with patients who have had accidents or injuries involving the hands and upper extremities, treats people with osteoarthritis, provides custom splints and performs physical capacity assessment and work space evaluations.

Poulos said he will begin moving this weekend and will be open for patients on Jan. 4.
