Kaizen Assembly, a Bellingham-based business consultancy that focuses on lean management training, is spinning off its manufacturing division into a new company called Solution Based Engineering, Chris Ortiz, the company’s president, said.
Ortiz said the manufacturing component of Kaizen has grown to a level where he felt a separate business entity was necessary to allow the company to offer competitive engineering services. Solution Based Engineering will have clients throughout the U.S., he said.
The division will offer CAD layout support, fixtures and tooling, new product development, prototyping, specialized projects, along with other manufacturing engineering services.
Kaizen Assembly will continue offering lean training, along with consulting and on-site implementation services.
Ortiz said Solution Based Engineering will likely move into a new facility in Bellingham by the end of 2014. Details on where the facility would be located, or exactly when it would open, are not yet available.
He said the new division will begin with a staff of between 4-5 employees.
