The PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation held its largest ever fundraising gala in Ferndale on June 9.
The annual event celebrates and thanks the community for support of the medical center.
The “Care, Share, Inspire” gala sold all of its 600 tickets, with attendees raising more than $260,000 to support PeaceHealth St. Joseph services, including the integrated Cancer Center, now under construction.
Mark McCampbell, chief development officer for PeaceHealth St. Joseph, said those who attended were vital to the development of the new single-site cancer center.
“‘Care, Share, Inspire’ is more than a gala theme, it’s what we do every day,” said McCampbell, in a press release. “While the numbers and dollars are wonderful, the real success is that people have been inspired to do more to help our community, and each other.”
Sister Andrea Nenzel, of the PeaceHealth System and Northwest Network boards of directors, said that in a time when everyone must do more with less, gala attendees stepped forward to help meet the community’s health care needs.
“In a world where we are deluged by disappointing news, we celebrate this community that comes together to make good news,” said Nenzel.
At the gala, awards for significant and inspirational contributions were presented to: physicians at Northwest Radiologists, Inc., the Ralph H. Rinne, MD, Physician Philanthropy Leader of the Year; Bob and Lisa Bailey, philanthropists of the year; and Dennis and Sylvia Holmstrom, inspirational leaders of the year.
The gala was held at the IMCO General Construction corporate headquarters in Ferndale, as its warehouse was transformed into a ballroom.
Major sponsors of the event included IMCO, Mills Electric and Mount Baker Imaging at the platinum level, and gold level sponsors Anderson Construction, “Bellingham Alive” Magazine, Gary’s Men’s & Women’s Wear, Saturna Capital, Sanitary Service Company and TradeWinds Capital Management.
The Foundation also wishes to thank Gala vendors: Haggen, True Bliss Events, Hand Crank Films, Baron & Co., Ashley Paulina, Edye Colello-Morton, Premiere Graphics and Pacific Party Canopies.
