RE Sources for Sustainable Communities hosts world-renowned renewable energy scientist Dan Kammen at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, in the Bellingham High School Auditorium.
Kammen will present his talk, “Imagine Energy Independence,” which looks at innovations and barriers to developing local renewable-energy systems.
“This talk is particularly timely,” said Crina Hoyer, RE Sources’ executive director, in a press release. “As Whatcom County grapples with questions about fossil fuel use, wind energy and coal export, Dr. Kammen will offer inspiration and instruction for creating a carbon-free economy.”
Kammen has implemented renewable projects in communities around the world. He is a lead author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and was also the World Bank’s chief technical specialist for renewable energy and energy efficiency from 2010-2011.
Donations will be accepted at the door ($7 suggested).
