The Whatcom Parks and Recreation Foundation and the Whatcom Educational Credit Union have teamed up to accept coin-jar donations in support of local parks, trails and other recreational outlets.
To participate in “Pocket Change for Parks,” donors bring their loose change to WECU branches—excluding offices in Sudden Valley and Bellis Fair Mall—count their coins using the credit union’s coin-counting machines, and ask a teller to put the proceeds into an account named, “Whatcom Parks and Recreation Foundation.”
WECU is also allowing nonmembers to use its coin-counting machines to make donations.
Donors can get receipts for tax deductions by emailing the foundation at info@wprfoundation.org with the dates and amounts of their donations.
