Western Washington University will host an information session on Tuesday, Feb. 25 for an upcoming class that covers advanced concepts in the use of WordPress, the popular blogging and content management service.
The session will begin at 5:30 p.m. in Room 305 of WWU’s Academic West building. A second session will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, in the same location.
The 11-week class, titled “Web Design and Development Level II: WordPress Next Steps,” begins April 3.
Participants will focus on more advanced WordPress models such as custom page templates, custom post types, the use of template tags, using custom queries, and using “The Loop” to control the presentation of content, according to WWU. By the end of the quarter, they will have designed a custom WordPress theme from the ground up, on their own hosting account.
Those interested should have some familiarity with basic WordPress publishing and be comfortable editing Web documents in HTML and CSS.
