100% of BTC surgery tech students passed certifying exam

Bellingham Technical College’s Surgery Technology program received an award from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting after 100 percent of the program’s Spring 2014 graduates passed the board’s certifying exams.

The exam is required for employment at many local, state and national healthcare organizations, according to a press release from the college.

Surgery technologists work alongside surgeons, nurses and specialists on surgery teams at hospitals and outpatient facilities.

The technical college’s surgery technology program has a 94 percent job placement rate for its graduates, according to the news release.
