Whatcom Community College is offering a non-credit 3D printing course through its Community and Continuing Education program.
“Introduction to 3D Printing” will cover the basics of a 3D printing technique called fused deposition modeling using polyactide plastic, according to a news release from Whatcom Community College.
Mary Keane and Jason Davies, owners of the Foundry makerspace on 1515 N. Forest St., will discuss printer operation, orienting files for strength and print accuracy, and how to utilize Tinkercad — a free design software program — to generate simple, printable 3D designs. During the course, participants will create an accurate model of a real-world object.
Instructors will also discuss other 3D printing technologies and materials.
The course costs $175 and meets from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays from April 7 to April 28. For more information or to register, visit whatcomcommunityed.com or call 360-383-3200.
