Absorption Corp of Ferndale has been acquired by the international strategic buyer J. Rettenmaier & Söhne Group of Rosenberg, Germany, according to an announcement from the company.
Absorption Corp develops and sells cellulose-based, absorbent products for pets and industrial applications. Its products are sustainably derived from reclaimed wood cellulose, a natural byproduct of the pulp and paper manufacturing process, according to the company.
In addition to its Ferndale location, the company also has production facilities in Jesup, Ga.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Absorption Corp has been a portfolio company of the private equity firm Kinderhook Industries LLC of New York City since May 2010.
J. Rettenmaier & Söhne Group manufactures organic fibers made from sustainable plant raw material for use in applications within the pet care, food, nutrition, pharmaceutical, chemical and construction industries. The firm supplies products to customers globally from its 23 facilities in 20 countries throughout the world.
