Animals as Natural Therapy to host fundraising gala, March 8

Animals as Natural Therapy, a Whatcom County nonprofit that offers therapy programs with the help of horses and other animals, will host a gala and auction at 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, at Hotel Bellwether in Bellingham.

The event serves as the organization’s main fundraiser for the year. All proceeds go toward the nonprofit’s operations.

Some of the organization’s programs include: day camps, year-round youth empowerment sessions, weekly substance abuse recovery programs for teen women and young mothers, family programs for those living in transitional housing, teen outreach programs interacting with institutionalized elders, as well as service learning for middle school, high school and college students.

The nonprofit also collaborates with a number of local agencies, including  Catholic Community Services, Sea Mar Visions Recovery Program, Northwest Youth Services, Blue Skies for Children, the Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center, Lydia Place and Womencare Shelter.
