Author Tom Robbins gives book reading and signing to benefit Skagit children's museum

The Children’s Museum of Skagit County hosts novelist Tom Robbins for a reading and book signing from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 14.

Robbins’ recent book, “B is for Beer: A Children’s Book for Grown-ups and A Grown-up Book for Children,” was published in 2009 by Harper Collins.

The tale follows Gracie, a young girl who sneaks a taste of her father’s beer and soon finds herself on a journey to understand the beverage’s worldwide appeal.

The book reading and signing is a fundraiser for the children’s museum, which is located at 550 Cascade Mall Drive in Burlington, Wash.

The 75-year-old Robbins has written an extensive list of novels acclaimed for the author’s trademark style, humor and wit. Some of his most popular works include “Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas,” “Jitterbug Perfume” and “Even Cowgirls Get the Blues.”

Tickets for the adult-only event are $65 for single entry, or $100 for two. They can be bought online or by calling the museum at 360-757-8888.

Beer, wine and appetizers are included with ticket purchases.
