Backgammon tournament to benefit WDRC

The Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center (WDRC) will be hosting its second annual Compete for a Cause Backgammon Tournament on Saturday, May 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The tournament, which will be held in Boundary Bay Brewery’s Beer Garden, is supported by Boundary Bay Brewery, Bellingham Backgammon Association and Pacific Martial Arts.

There will be a pre-tournament seminar on backgammon at 9 a.m. with Michael Cain, director of the Bellingham Backgammon Association and facilitator of the event.

Those interested can register online at wwwu.whatcomdrc.org, at Boundary Bay or at the WDRC on 13 Prospect St. Registration is $25 per person, $32 with a box lunch and an additional $5 for the pre-tournament seminar. Early registration is recommended.

All proceeds will benefit the WDRC, which works to educate the public in peaceful conflict resolution skills and provides trained mediators.
