Battery City, which recently moved into its 1031 N. State St. location, is gearing up for its grand opening on Jan. 19.
“Once we get the ‘grand opening’ sign put up it will be official,” said Craig Brand, who works in sales at the new location.
Bellingham’s store is essentially an extension of Battery City in Los Angeles, owned by Harry and Joanne Lee. Brand said the store is gradually building their stock to match that of the Los Angeles location, which boasts more than 3,000 batteries.
“Our inventory is less than half of what it will be,” he said.
Brand said Battery City has made a name for itself in Los Angeles for having an extensive selection, often providing hard to find or rare batteries to local electronics companies and their customers. As an extension of that store, he said the one in Bellingham will look to do the same.
“I’ve even heard of them having old Polaroid camera batteries,” he said.
