The Bellingham Business Journal
The Bellingham Angel Group, founded in 2005, is celebrating its fifth anniversary this year. With this milestone comes another: This past year has been the group’s highest investment year ever, with $3.25 million in member investments.
The Bellingham Angels are a local group of investors dedicated to providing equity capital to early and mid-stage entrepreneurial companies in the Pacific Northwest, with an emphasis on Whatcom, Skagit and Island counties.
In addition to the capital the group provides, they also offer mentorship and guidance to start-up businesses. The group has been instrumental in the success of a number of local start-ups, including Tatango, a group text message company founded by Derek Johnson. This service, which has expanded into a highly profitable business, is just one beneficiary of Angel funding.
