Foreclosure rates in the Bellingham area decreased in October 2013 compared to the same month last year, according to the latest data from CoreLogic.
The rate of Bellingham-area foreclosures among outstanding mortgage loans was 1.10 percent in October 2013, a decrease of 0.39 percentage points compared to October 2012, when the rate was 1.49 percent.
Foreclosure activity in Bellingham was lower than the national foreclosure rate, which was 2.15 percent for October 2013. Washington’s statewide foreclosure rate that month was 1.8 percent.
Also in Bellingham, the mortgage delinquency rate decreased. In October 2013, 3.20 percent of mortgage loans were 90 days or more delinquent, compared to 4.17 percent for the same month last year, a decrease of 0.97 percentage points, according to CoreLogic.
