Bellingham firms capture ad industry film award

Two Bellingham companies have won an advertising industry film award from the American Advertising Federation.

Outdoor company McNett Corporation, along with Hand Crank Films, a production company based in Bellingham and Seattle, won a Silver ADDY Award for Cinematography for their promo video, titled “We are McNett.”

“We hired Hand Crank Films because we knew they would capture the story we wanted to tell,” David Wiggs, McNett’s vice president of marketing, said in a May 2 press release. “From Blackhawk helicopters to snowstorms, the project has been a tremendous marketing piece; kudos to all.”

Director Chris Koser used Whatcom County as the backdrop for the video, which highlighted McNett products in the field.

The company creates products for the diving, outdoor, sporting goods and military markets.

The ADDY Awards is a three-tier national competition conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation.

This year’s award is the third ADDY win for Hand Crank Films, which was founded in 2005.
