Foreclosure rates in Bellingham increased for the month of January over the same period last year, according to newly released data from CoreLogic.
The rate of Bellingham area foreclosures among outstanding mortgage loans was 1.58 percent for the month of January 2013, an increase of 0.51 percentage points compared to January 2012, when the rate was 1.07 percent.
Foreclosure activity in Bellingham was lower than the statewide rate, which was at 2.48 percent in January 2013. The national foreclosure rate was 2.90 percent during the same month.
Also in Bellingham, the mortgage delinquency rate decreased. According to CoreLogic data for January 2013, 4.13 percent of mortgage loans were 90 days or more delinquent compared to 4.31 percent for the same period last year, representing a decrease of 0.18 percentage points.
