The Washington State Liquor Control Board will host a live auction on June 28 for the rights associated with the state liquor store at 1255 Barkley Blvd., Suite 107 in Bellingham.
This is the third time the licensing rights for the Barkley store will be auctioned off. Both previous winning bidders failed to pay their bids, including the winner of a May 24 auction.
The board is also auctioning off five other former state-run liquor stores across Washington after top bidders did not pay up.
Bidders representing 161 state liquor stores have already paid a total of $29.8 million in bid fees to the state.
“This has been a highly successful auction process,” said the liquor board’s business enterprise director Pat McLaughlin, in a press release. “We have already collected nearly $29.8 million in bids plus about one million more in fees.”
Additional details on the live public auction and comprehensive data on each of the six stores being auctioned is available on the liquor board’s website.
