Bellingham Moms social network re-launches with new owner

BellinghamMomsforMoms.com, a local social-networking community for Bellingham mothers, has re-launched with a new owner.

Laura Lawyer, who moved to Bellingham in 2011 with her husband and two sons, took over direction of the site last month. BellinghamMomsforMoms.com offers an online community for local mothers to exchange advice about local pediatricians and available babysitters, or look for used baby gear on the site’s “Marketplace.”

“I was a new mom in a new city several years ago, with no family close by to help out,” Lawyer said, in a news release. “I know how isolating being a new mom can be, and I don’t know how I would have made it without the connections and support I had from a local mother’s group.”

The Bellingham network, which initially launched in December 2012, is part of the broader Moms for Moms Communities, created in 2010 by Janine Cuthbertson of Carbondale, Colo.

Membership is free to all local mothers from pregnancy through grandmother-hood. Memberships are moderated by a site administrator.
