Bellingham’s Parks and Recreation Advisory Board is asking local residents to suggest names for a future waterfront park that will be located south of State Street and the South Bay Trail.
Suggestions can be submitted online or sent to the Parks and Recreation Department/Administration Office at 3424 Meridian St., Bellingham, WA 98225. They will be accepted through Feb. 21.
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board will consider the names suggested at its March 12 meeting. The name selected by the board will be forwarded to the Bellingham City Council for a final decision, in accordance with city policy regarding the naming of parks and recreational facilities.
The undeveloped park area is currently referred to as the Cornwall Beach Park. A master plan for its development will be under consideration this year by the advisory board and City Council. More information is on the city’s website.
