Bellingham officials taking applications for tourism promotion grants

The city of Bellingham is accepting applications for its 2013 tourism promotion grant program, which funds projects or events that attract tourists.

Applications will be taken until 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21. They can be found in the city’s Planning and Community Development Department in Bellingham City Hall or on the city’s website. Grant recipients are selected through a competitive process.

City officials awarded $988,500 in grant money in 2012 to 26 organizations, including Allied Arts, Ski to Sea, Lummi Nation Service Organization and Sustainable Connections.

Special consideration is given to events occurring between October and May, as well as events coordinated in partnership with other agencies or groups.

For more information, contact Shannon Taysi with the city’s Planning and Community Development department at staysi@cob.org or 360-778-8360.
