Bellingham receives wildlife habitat award

The Bellingham Business Journal

The city of Bellingham was recently certified as a Community Wildlife Habitat site by the National Wildlife Federation. To register, Bellingham needed to highlight local teams creating viable habitats for wildlife in the community.

Bellingham registered in 2005 with the efforts of the Washington Native Plant Society, North Cascades Audubon Society, the Backyard Habitat Mentors and the regional office of the National Wildlife Federation to create local habitats.

Wildlife habitats were certified at 283 homes, seven schools and 14 common spaces, including Bellingham City Hall.
