Under the rental inspection program, property owners can either use the city inspector or a private inspector. In addition to completing the city’s training course, a private inspector must have one of the following credentials to qualify:

  • American Association of Code Enforcement property maintenance and housing inspector certification;

  • International Code Council property maintenance and housing inspector certification;

  • International Code Council residential building code inspector;

  • Washington State licensed home inspector; or

  • Other acceptable credential the director establishes by rule.

The city will maintain a list of qualified inspectors for use by property owners.

Anyone interested in taking the course must RSVP to rentals@cob.org by Oct. 28.
