Bellingham-based baby Web site to shut down

After more than six years  in business, Saralee Sky and Jerry Kilgore, owners of Bellingham-based, have decided to shut down their online store.

In a press release, Sky said that 2009 was a very difficult year with sales down more than 30 percent.

“We have decided to close down by the end of March 2010,” Sky said. “I have enjoyed so much creating and managing Babynut. It has been a huge focal point for me and a way for me to reach out to mothers and babies to offer love, support, information and healthy products.”

The site also featured a free online and e-mail newsletter, which Sky said would continue on her blog, Womb to Grow, which can be found at

“I will continue to spread the message of the importance of pregnancy and the first three years of a child’s life,” Sky said.

Products now at clearance prices at include: organic and natural maternity and nursing clothes, baby and toddler clothes, books on pregnancy, adoption, natural childbirth and parenting, children’s books and music, wooden toys and puzzles, puppets, gift baskets, baby carriers, body products, wellness products, astrology charts and clothing with astrological signs specially designed for Babynut.
