Beyond the Sony hack: cyber security panel hosted by TAGNW

The attack that led to theaters canceling showings of the Sony Pictures film “The Interview” was one of the most expensive cyber attacks in history.

To discuss the “brave new world beyond the Sony hack,” the Technology Alliance Group for Northwest Washington (TagNW) put together a panel of speakers for its spring Tech mixer.

The event goes from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6 at The Underground Nightclub at 211 E. Chestnut St. The panel discussion goes from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Speakers will be Shay Colson, cyber security architect for the U.S. Department of Treasury; Nick Gorveatt, IT manager at Emergency Reporting; Julian Rrushi, assistant professor with Western Washington University’s department of computer science; and Chester Wisniewski, senior security advisor at Sophos.

Tickets are $10 for TagNW members, $15 for nonmembers and $5 for students. The event is sponsored by 3D Corporation and Sophos.
