Big Fresh launches app involving best-selling book

Big Fresh, a Bellingham-based Web development company, has released a new Web-based app modeled after best-selling book “The One Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results,” by Gary Keller and Jay Papasan.

In conjunction with the app’s launch, Papasan will host a free event at the Mount Baker Theatre from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 18. Papasan will discuss the core concepts behind the book, including how to be more productive and how to gain more satisfaction from life. People interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP at theonething.eventbrite.com.

Big Fresh’s app, which is available for free at app.the1thing.com, provides a portal in which users create habits and goals, set-up reminders and assign an accountability team. The app is viewable on PCs, laptops, smartphones and tablets.

“The challenge we were presented with was to take the core concepts and ideas behind the book and translate those into a working application with a simple user experience,” said Austin Teer, the lead front end engineer at Big Fresh, in a press release. “Our process included a discovery phase, strategically architected wire-frames, and many brainstorming sessions.”
