Washington State recently certified Birch Equipment as a Woman Business Enterprise through the State Office of Minority and Women Business Enterprises. The firm is owned by Sara Rothenbuhler, who took control of company operations in 1995 and become the owner in 2001.
Birch Equipment has locations in Bellingham, Anacortes, Mount Vernon, and Sitka, Alaska. It is the 98th largest rental company in the United States, and one of the largest locally-owned equipment rental companies in the region, but it doesn’t have a big promotional budget, according to a press release.
“The WBE certification gives us a platform with our government buyers,” Birch Equipment manager Stephen Mitchell said in the release. “It gets us to the table, where we’re better able to show the value that we bring — not only with our products and services, but also to our state and community through millions paid in taxes, jobs and ongoing training provided to our hardworking employees, and investments worth over $100k annually to support the communities that we live and work in.”
