Once again, Boundary Bay Brewery and Bistro has been named the largest brewpub in the nation by The Brewers Association, based on its 2009 production volume.
A brewpub is defined as a brewery with a restaurant that has at least 25 percent of beer sales occurring on-site, as opposed to a microbrewery where most sales are off site. Last year, Boundary Bay produced 5,738 barrels, approximately 177,800 gallons, of beer.
The Brewers Association also reported that the craft beer industry experienced a 7.2 percent increase in volume last year compared to 2008.
