Bowen, Olmstead join Service Alternatives in Bellingham

Service Alternatives Inc. has added Benita Bowen and Joe Olmstead to its Community Employment Services program in Bellingham.

Both Bowen and Olmstead have been hired as employment specialists.

Service Alternatives provides a variety of support services for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families, including employment services, residential services, wraparound/kinship services, foster care, school-based services, independent living support, consultation and training throughout Washington, as well as in Idaho and Oregon.

“Community Employment Services has been very successful in Bellingham,” said Melissa Rumsey, local program manager, in a press release. “Hiring Joe and Benita will mean we can assist more clients and local employers.”

Bowen has a background in human resources and co-owned a Bellingham Port of Subs in the 1990s.

Olmstead, who has a degree in communication from Western Washington University, has been a community-support person for people with disabilities for several years.
