Chamber leadership summit to features discussions with local business luminaries

In honor of Global Entrepreneurship Week, the next installment of the Bellingham/Whatcom Chamber of Commerce’s speaker series will target start-ups and entrepreneurs in a special “leadership summit.”

The event goes from 12-3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at Hotel Bellwether, at 1 Bellwether Way in Bellingham.

Leaders of successful and well-established local businesses will discuss how they started and grew their businesses.

Wes Herman of The Woods Coffee, Troy Muljat of The Muljat Group, and Janelle Bruland of Management Services Northwest will speak on a panel titled “Keys to Success.”

The Upfront Theatre’s BizProv—a workshop on improv and communication skills for business success—will follow the panel discussion.

The summit concludes with a talk on the power of business and community with Chuck Robinson of Village Books and Janet Lightner of Boundary Bay Brewery. They will speak about their success with the triple bottom line approach, an accounting framework that values social, environmental and financial goals.

The Chamber is hosting a networking event from 3:30-5 p.m., after the leadership summit, at Lighthouse Bar and Grill at Hotel Bellwether.

The event costs $25 for chamber members and $30 for nonmembers in advance, or $30 and $35 at the door. Price of admission includes lunch. Space is limited, RSVP online at Bellingham.com or call the chamber at 360-734-1330.
