Jeff Kochman, president of the Barkley Company, will speak on Tuesday, Jan. 27 at the Bellingham Whatcom Chamber of Commerce’s first monthly member lunch.
Chamber member lunches, a new program, will meet monthly from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at Hampton Inn’s Fox Hall at 1661 W. Bakerview Road. Each lunch will include a short speech by a spokesperson from a local nonprofit, followed by the featured speaker.
The first month’s nonprofit speaker will be Sheri Emerson, associate director for the Opportunity Council, a nonprofit serving homeless and low-income people.
Lynn Murphy, community services manager for Puget Sound Energy, will speak at the second monthly lunch on Feb. 24, and Rob Fix, executive director for the Port of Bellingham, will speak at the third lunch on March 24.
“I’d like to gather together people who represent every side of an issue to discuss it in a factual and logical manner,” said Chamber President and CEO Guy Occhiogrosso in a press release. “As a chamber of commerce, I believe it is our responsibility to offer the community an opportunity to hear all sides of an issue so that they can make decisions based on the facts and facilitate factually-based discussions. We simply want to be a conduit through which the community can obtain information, drive discussions and make their own decisions.”
The monthly member lunch is open to members of the business community. It costs $15 with RSVP, and is $20 for those who do not RSVP. Lunch is included in the price. To RSVP or for information on sponsoring an event, call the Chamber at 360-734-1330.
