Chuckanut's Kolsch Ale wins big at World Beer Cup, brewery preparing for May 14-20 craft beer events

Chuckanut Brewery & Kitchen’s Kolsch Ale won the silver medal at the 2012 World Beer Cup, May 5 in San Diego, Calif.

The event is the world’s largest commercial beer competition, where judges rate thousands of beers in dozens of categories.

Chuckanut’s Kolsch also won a gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival in 2011.

The brewery is getting ready for American Craft Beer Week, held in Seattle from May 14-20.

Chuckanut brewers will participate in several events throughout the week.

-A kickoff celebration at 6 p.m. on May 14 at Shultzy’s, located at 4114 University Way, Seattle.

-The Women in Brewing event at Pike Brewing Co. on May 15, 1415 1st Ave., Seattle.

-The West Coast Beer Dinner on May 16 at Brave Horse Tavern, 310 Terry Ave. North, Seattle.

-A May 20 Brewery Tour at Chuckanut, located at 601 W. Holly St., Bellingham.
