Cirrus Cycles of Bellingham has launched BodyFloat, a bicycle-seat post designed to allow riders to “levitate” over their bikes in order to increase comfort and performance, according to the company.
The post was designed by Cirrus Cycles CEO Paul Barkley and former professional cyclist and Bellingham native Charlie Heggem, who together started the company in 2011.
Heggem said BodyFloat’s design is unique to the cycling market.
“Your butt and body will love it, no matter what you ride,” Heggem said, in a press release. “We have been tinkering for years with various suspension systems, then Paul came up with the dual spring idea last year, and he hit a proverbial home run.”
Cirrus Cycles, at 611 Kentucky St., will be open for demonstration rides in October.
The company has also begun a Kickstarter fundraising campaign.
