City officials to share status of downtown planning project

The myDowntown project, which is working on drafting a new sub-area plan for downtown Bellingham, will host an open house on Friday, Nov. 2, to review findings gathered during a series of public workshops held over the summer.

The event will take place from 5-8 p.m. at the SPARK Museum of Electrical Invention, 1312 Bay St. in downtown Bellingham.

It will include a presentation on the current status of the project and its next steps, as well as a Q-and-A session.

The new downtown plan will include a refined vision, new priorities for action, proposed boundaries and development regulations. Project organizers and city planning officials expect to draft the plan this fall and winter.

It will be presented for review and adoption to the city’s planning commission and the City Council in 2013.
