On Oct. 12, Five Columns Restaurant hosted a benefit dinner for Support Officer Community Care and raised $8,500.
Rather than be served by the Five Columns staff, attendees were greeted, seated and served by police officers, sheriff deputies, paramedics and firemen. Restaurant staff did the cooking, however.
“It was a fun evening with a great attendance. Everyone was very generous and we had a great night,” said Soula Christopoulos, co-owner of Five Columns.
Support Officers is a group of local volunteers who respond to critical 911 calls and offer their support to the families of the victims. They are civilian volunteers who give their time and energy to help these families get through crisis situations.
“Support Officers help local families affected by tragedy, so the money raised goes back into helping our neighbors, which is very important,” Christopoulos said.
