Fairhaven’s Community Boating Center wants to get more people in rowboats.

The center is offering an afternoon of free rowboat rentals on Saturday, June 20 to encourage people to experience traditional rowing and celebrate the addition of a new boat to its rowing fleet.

In June, a new composite fiberglass and plywood rowboat called the “Hunky Dory” joined the Community Boating Center’s rental fleet. The dory-style boat was donated to the center in 2014, according to a press release from the boating center.

The event goes from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Community Boating Center, at 555 Harris Ave., in Fairhaven.
