The Community Energy Challenge, which was launched in Bellingham and serves Whatcom, Island, Skagit and San Juan counties, celebrates its sixth anniversary this summer.
The Community Energy Challenge is a program of Sustainable Connections and the Opportunity Council, and makes home and commercial energy efficiency improvements affordable.
Over its six years, the challenge has generated $12,315,458 in economic activity generated by residential projects and $5,113,023.42 in economic activity generated by commercial projects. The project saves 6,726 metric tons of CO2 annually.
