Compete for a Cause cribbage tournament raises $2,600

The Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center’s 5th annual “Compete for a Cause” Cribbage Tournament, held Saturday, Sept. 10th in the Boundary Bay Brewery beer garden, raised more than $2,600 for the center’s youth programs.

The tournament sold out with 64 competitors, including a 10 year-old and a 12 year-old that both made it into the afternoon single elimination round. The event wrapped up with a win for Joanne Allison of Blaine. Her award was a handmade cribbage board, a $50 gift certificate to Fred Meyer, and her name engraved in the WDRC winners’ plaque for posterity. Second place went to Laura Parkinson of Everson.
