Dean of WWU education college to transition back to teaching

Francisco Rios will transition from dean of Woodring College of Education at Western Washington University to faculty member in the Secondary Education Department.

Rios has been dean of Woodring College since 2011, and will serve through the 2016-17 year.

“I have decided to spend the last stage of my career as a professor in the college, working with students via teaching and advising, engaged scholarship and community service,” Rios said in a statement.

Before he came to Western, Rios was professor and chair of the Educational Studies Department and founding director of the Social Justice Research Center at the University of Wyoming.

He has more than 30 years experience as a teacher and administrator.
