Bellingham Internal Medicine finalist for Dell award

Bellingham Internal Medicine (BIM) was named as one of the 10 United States finalists in the 2009 Dell Small Business Excellence Awards for its innovative use of technology.

The company uses an integrated computerized medical office management and electronic medical record system developed by Dr. Mitchell Kahn to provide state-of-the-art technology support. This allows BIM to provide comprehensive primary care without drowning in paperwork.

Using this system, called the Automated Primary Care Office System, BIM is able to support the four providers with only five employees – a ratio less than half the national average for primary care practices. This can be done because every possible task is automated: accounting, intra-office and external communications, medical records, document management and prescription writing.
