Sustainable Connections is accepting entry forms for its new Green Playhouse Design Building Competition, part of the annual Imagine This! Home and Landscape Tour.
Organizers of the competition are asking participants to design a temporary, eco-friendly playground for a space in downtown Bellingham. The final products will be part of an auction and awards ceremony, according to the nonprofit organization.
First, second and third place awards will be given, along with a Kids’ Choice Award, selected by the votes of all attending children under 10 years old.
Teams must consist of at least one builder or architect, but can also include other industry professionals.
Entry forms are due Friday, Feb. 15. They are available at www.sustainableconnections.org
“Children are often our source of inspiration and remind us to be imaginative. This competition is a perfect opportunity to allow our region’s creative and skilled green building professionals to combine that inspiration with their craft,” said Rose Lathrop, Sustainable Connections’ green building and smart growth manager, in a press release. “Our intention with this friendly competition is to give those folks well-deserved recognition while inspiring our community both young and old to take imagination to reality within their own homes.”
Process will go to local groups promoting green building and community environmental education, according to event organizers.
