The Mount Baker Chapter of the American Red Cross has received $10,000 from DeWaard and Bode to aid disaster prevention, preparation response efforts, according to an announcement from the nonprofit.
DeWaard and Bode, an appliance and mattress retailer based in Bellingham, donated the proceeds from a charity golf tournament held at the Homestead Golf & Country Club in Lynden.
“All the services that we provide are made possible by the generosity of individuals and businesses in our community,” said Stacy Rice, executive director of the Mount Baker Chapter, in a press release. “Thank you to DeWaard and Bode for their incredible generosity and support. We are a 98 percent volunteer-led organization and very good stewards of the donated dollar, so this donation will go a long way.”
The Mount Baker Chapter provided emergency services and lifesaving skills to more than 10,000 people last year. It currently has 5 staff members and more than 350 volunteers.
